Carbon Fibre

This is an ultra-light, but extremely strong material that has been used to manufacturer vehicle parts for road and racing cars. It was introduced to the World of Formula 1 racing in the 1970's in the form of large but light wings. McLaren were the first team to use it to produce the whole monocoque of a Formula 1 car in 1981.
